There’s something hauntingly beautiful about this piece that I painted in soft pinks using my Faded Grandeur technique. After traveling and teaching overseas so much lately it was wonderful to immerse myself in a deeply creative project with this gorgeous small chiffonier in all its shapely detail. It has a kind of bygone decadence that I tried to reflect in the props, choosing a vintage perfume bottle and fading flowers tumbling from a rust-kissed urn. Can you guess the colours I used? I’d love to know what you think…

This is gorgeous, first of all. Secondly, just some feedback… It’d be nice to see a detailed list of supplies involved so that we ameteur people (who lack a very wide variety but are probably most likely to want the tutorial) know if this option’s within our budget or something we’d even consider worthwhile. I personally am unlikely to pay for any given tutorial but might consider it if I knew what I’m in for and could commit.
Hi Alisha thanks so much for your comment, this is a super popular piece of mine and shared far and wide. In terms of what you need to do Faded Grandeur it really depends on the depth and complexity of look you want to create. Each of my tutorials has a materials list but it’s possible to substitute out with what paint and colours you have avaiable. In most cases you can achieve a lovely look with one colour, a lighter colour for a wash, clear and dark wax and water some cloths etc. Hope that helps. J x
