I took up painting furniture 7 years ago. I had been making art for some years and found the progression to using chalk paints on furniture to be an easy transition. I view it as just another substrate. I love using colour and texture. The challenge of upcycling unwanted pieces of furniture to update them and suggest new uses for them is something that I really enjoy.
I source pieces and weave my own brand of magic on them and sell them through my Facebook page and also through shops in Dumfries and Galloway, where I live. Some pieces I simply sand back and feed with wax or lacquer them to bring out their hidden grain and lustre. I may be able to offer a repair service and reseating of cane chairs. I am happy to take on commissions, especially for painting furniture, garden furniture and other items.
