Well here we go, I’ve had this wooden sideboard for some time. I even French polished the top myself but still felt it had more potential. So I embarked on quite a transformation as you can see…
It’s a project of two halves. The drawer and cupboards on the bottom half of the project have been découpaged with a beautiful piece of vintage fabric, the rest of the piece was carefully colour matched to the background of the fabric using a mix of Country Grey and Barcelona Orange.
I have used clear and dark wax to add layers of age, with the end result giving the illusion of a hand-painted Chinoiserie style classic.
The wooden surface on top has had my faux marbling technique with Annie Sloan’s Graphite and Old White paint, which I feel really has changed the overall look of this piece of furniture.
The possibilities truly are endless with this magical paint and a little bit of knowhow. You really can create your own masterpiece. And if you liked this project, then why not register to view my Marble Tutorial for free.
