Mid-century modern coffee table inspired by my love of furniture and English Victorian homes created for my tenure as Annie Sloan’s Painter in Residence in 2017. Hand painted in bespoke mixes of Napoleonic Blue/Graphite and Country Grey, Honfleur, Amsterdam Green and Giverny and all clear waxed.
I decided to take a traditional architectural heritage detail and add it to a piece of furniture that had become outmoded while still celebrating its strengths. The cut-out detail on the waterfall edges highlight the mechanics of the table under the surface and how the glass appears to float. I believe sometimes you don’t have to paint everything. This is one of those pieces where elements of the natural wood work too and add to its retro charm.
Super practical size for a reception area in a barber’s or gent’s grooming area, hotel lobby, cocktail bar or eclectic interiors space with lots of space for magazines, serving refreshments or objet d’art. Thanks to the quirky twist on a traditional feel, it is equally perfect for a gentleman’s study, hunting lodge or library.
As this is an hand painted and refurbished upcycled item it is not perfect, but I hope you will find its perfectly imperfect character adds to its charm! If you have any questions whatsoever please ask me.
