Grand Designs Live – join Jonathon Marc Mendes for Upcycling Demo Days at London ExCel, 7th & 8th May 2019

If you’re in London on Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th May then please come along to Grand Designs Live at London ExCel. You’ll find me in the Upcycling Hub demonstrating 1 – 4pm these days with my friend Nick from the Rocky Crystal Interiors. Nick has totally mastered my Industrial Rust tutorial and sells his work via our lovely host Julie from New Vintage.

New Vintage is a super popular furniture shop on Battersea Park Road in London. The go-to location for London’s leading stylists, artists and designers looking for quirky pieces for photoshoots and makeovers. Julie is passionate about sustainability and supports artists and makers who rework and upfurbish old furniture to bring it back to life. I am so honoured to be asked to join her and Nick at the show and will be around the New Vintage stand (U6 in the Upcycling Hub) from Monday til Wednesday as well as during my demo slots. Please come and say hi!

During the demonstrations I am going to showcase the painted patinas I teach in my Painted Love AcademyMarble, Rust and Saltwash Verdigris finishes using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and Saltwash. We’ll be showing you how to make amazing wall art like the E above my newly upcycled gentleman’s gin bar above and below.

I’m also going to be showing my Faded Grandeur style of upcycling, super popular with furniture painters all over the world. I guarantee it’s much E-asier than you think to achieve that softly aged French chateau feel, from new to vintage in just a few coats of paint once you know how!

If you can’t make it, there are other opportunities to join me for real world Events this year – in the Netherlands, Germany and Ireland as well as in my own workshop here in Lincolnshire in the UK. As well as virtually right here by registering for my Painted Love Academy and private Facebook group once you become a student!

PS. Huge thanks to our friends at Bottle & Carriage for the loan of such fabulous bar props including a delicious local gin from Deco Spirits.
